Grassroots Giving 2018: voting now closed
Voting has closed in this year's Grassroots Giving and now the wait is on to find out which organisations have won.
We have received a record number of public votes this year and these are now being counted. The 165 groups which receive the most votes will all receive 165 pots of £500. Winners will be announced on 5 November.
Now in its sixth year, Grassroots Giving has already helped more than 800 community groups across the UK which might normally struggle to attract any funding. This year we have received over 740 applications and we have seen a wide and wonderful range of inspirational stories.
Last year 164 groups became the latest recipients of Grassroots Giving funding. As usual, these were chosen by public vote and in 2017 the shortlisted groups received more than 40,000 votes - a record for Grassroots Giving.
This year we are giving 165 organisations the chance to receive a £500 pot to help build a brighter future in their local communities.
Grassroots Giving was launched in 2013 to celebrate the Society’s 160th anniversary and proved to be an immediate success. It was designed to reflect our mutual roots and established to help people and communities to help themselves.
