Grassroots Giving Community Clean-up

04 May 2016

Staff at Skipton Building Society’s Head Office plus a number of branches will be donning gloves and hi vis jackets on Thursday 5 May to pick up litter and help launch the society’s award-winning community funding scheme Grassroots Giving.

They are joining colleagues from all around the country who are taking part in The Great Grassroots Giving Community Clean-up.

Roy Prenton, of the Grassroots Giving team, said:

“Grassroots Giving is all about helping the small community groups which would not normally gain any financial support. We want to make sure that these types of organisations in our area have a chance of getting some of the money available and we urge them to come along to our branch and find out more.

“Not only can we help them try to win a £500 donation, we can also show them how to access free resources and to join an online community where they can learn so much about how to improve the running of their organisation.

“We are keen to encourage anyone with a question to visit the branch and pick up a leaflet which explains how to apply for funding.”

This is the fourth year Skipton has run its Grassroots Giving scheme. In previous years, a total of £241,500 has been donated to 483 small community groups across the country.
