Pass On Preloved Items (POPI) Keighley

Your story

We are a small organisation aiming to address poverty in children and families in the local area (Keighley and surrounding).

Group introduction

We collect donations of preloved items for babies and young children from the public and distribute these to families that need them via support agencies such as Children’s Centres, Health Visitors, Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Domestic Violence Support Agencies, Refugee Support etc. We collect donations via our Facebook Group, Pass On Preloved Items (POPI) Keighley and we currently have 2670 supporters on there. We have a unit in Keighley where we store the donations and support agencies visit us each week to collect items needed by the vulnerable families that they are working with. Examples of equipment that we provide would be cots, prams and pushchairs, safety equipment, clothes, highchairs, nappies, toiletries, baby bouncers and bedding.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

Whilst the vast majority of the items that we provide to vulnerable families are donated by kind members of the public, we always have a shortage of safety equipment such as stair gates and fire guards. We are asking for this funding to allow us to buy a stock of new safety equipment so that some of our families can keep their little ones safe. £500 would buy stair gates for around 40 families which would have a massive impact.

"Whilst the majority of the equipment that we provide is donated by kind members of the public, demand is always high for safety equipment such as stair gates and fireguards and we are unable to fulfil every request from donated items. This money would enable us to buy a stock of these items so that vulnerable families are able keep their little ones safe."
