Norristhorpe Girls Junior Football Club

Your story

We are a community Football Club who’ve just moved to a new base on the outskirts of Huddersfield. We run teams throughout all age groups, starting at 5 years old through to 18 years old. We are a self-funding organisation and rely on the help of volunteers and the support of our community to fund our work.

Group introduction

Set up in 1997 our club is run on a pure volunteer basis. Our aim is to provide opportunities to play football for children of all ages and abilities, in a safe, friendly and enjoyable environment. We would like to help children develop new skills and give them the opportunity to continue playing with older age groups in the future. We promote our team within the local community and often offer free blocks of indoor training sessions to encourage more girls to play football and hopefully attract girls to our football club.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

To continue to deliver training sessions to children we need to comply with FA regulations and ensure that all coaches have the necessary qualifications. Coaching courses along with Child Safe Guarding and First Aid training; each year our club needs to spend hundreds of pounds ensuring that we maintain our volunteers’ qualifications.
A measure of the success of our club is the attraction of new girls to the club. However, this success means that we are under continual pressure to provide the equipment, training facilities and kit to allow our junior teams to continue playing.
Securing of this funding will allow our club to purchase additional training equipment such as balls, cones & bibs to allow new teams to be formed at the youngest age groups.

"“The young ones are the heart and soul of the club – where the club grows. If you don’t keep them together and involved then older teams never develop.” – Ian Artley U10/U12’s Girls Coach & Club Secretary"
