Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club
A Tennis Community group formed during the London 2012 Olympics wishing to ‘inspire the next generation’.
Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club aims to provide Tennis opportunities for all ages and abilities at local Community Venues in Parks and Leisure Centres. Due to the commitment of members at Cheslyn Hay, the club has been awarded ‘Midlands Tennis Venue of the Year’ for 2017 for providing quality Tennis experiences that are accessible and affordable to all. The club aims to cater and provide quality Tennis experiences for the Community. This has had a big impact on health and social inclusion with over 200 people playing Tennis at the venue every week. It has 9 junior teams from Under 8 to Under 18, 6 mens team and ladies teams. The club aims to develop the confidence of all young people and adults to allow them to skilfully play alongside develop social skills. The club was formed in 2012 when it was recognised that there was limited tennis provision in the area. This was a opportunity not to be missed - Tennis can bring together families and whole community together with juniors, adults and seniors playing together!
How would this funding have an impact on your community?
This will allow us to purchase a shelter, seating area and storage for the Tennis Courts at Cheslyn Hay. Currently there is no shelter to allow shelter from the elements and a place for the community to meet. This will allow more Tennis to be played in poor weather especially in the Winter which will have a positive impact on the health and well-being of participants. In addition, the shelter will allow us to meet together and continue to develop community and social links. These basic items will make Tennis more attractive and assessible for the community allowing more tennis to played.
