Penzance Netball Club
We are one of the oldest Netball Clubs in the county. We currently have 5 senior teams competing in the Cornwall Netball League, 3 junior teams and an under 16 regional team.
We provide a fun and competitive environment encouraging all abilities and ages.
Penzance Netball Club was established in 1975. The club is run voluntarily by previous and existing members from administration down to coaching. We work hard to ensure our junior section is a fun and safe environment where girls can enjoy sport from an early age. We aim to help encourage life long participation in sport and create a love of Netball.
In our senior section we aim to provide an inviting and warm atmosphere where you can train to your own ability and fitness to encourage all ages and abilities to join in. We also cater for those more competitive sports women with our 1st team competing in a high level within the 1st division in Cornwall and our 2nd and 3rd teams now both in division 2.
How would this funding have an impact on your community?
As the club is expanding it's running costs, transport costs, equipment and court hire continue to increase.
As a club we are constantly fundraising to ensure our members fees are kept fairly low to ensure inclusivity for both children and those on low incomes. This year alone we have held two bag packing days, a sponsored walk and a Netball Fun Day.
If our funding application were successful we would be able to allocate this money specifically to new equipment for our senior section, balls and bibs and Netball dresses. The junior section could be provided with jackets to wear whilst playing at away matches. It would also mean that our fundraising money can be allocated to minibus hire and club running costs.
Penzance Netball club is the only club in Penwith and therefore provides Netball for a large radius of women and girls.
Being granted funding would mean that future girls and women in the area would have the opportunity to participate in sport in a fun and sociable environment and live a healthy lifestyle.
"'The young girls make coaching fun and worth while. They are so coachable, they absorb everything and throw it onto court and more importantly they never ever give up!!
I’ve absolutely loved coaching them this season and watching them learn and flourish into the game we love' Stacey Gilbert (Head Coach)"
