Little Chalfont Community Knit & Knatter
Made with love - hand knitted projects for Dementia and all charities.
The Group was founded by Christine Crease and Sue Keir and is held at the Little Chalfont Community Library for two hours every Monday excluding bank holidays (the knattering does continue after hours!). New knitters are welcome and over the years the group has taught beginners to become confident in their projects. The group is very social and arranges trips out and lunches in celebration of being together. The group are aged between 35 – 85 and all enjoy the social aspect very much and even the shyest ladies blossom. It is a very worthwhile community service and no-one is turned away if there is a spare chair. Whilst working on their own projects all join in with charity knits. So far Twiddlemuffs for Dementia - Hats, Scarves and Gloves for Sailors - Blankets and clothes for premature babies have been achieved. The present project is fifty blankets to be donated to a Dr. at a London Hospital for his current work with the homeless.
How would this funding have an impact on your community?
It would mean such a lot to the group to be able to purchase materials to carry in with charity projects and also arrange an outing for all to enjoy.
The benefits for lonely people to be able to join in with those of similar interests and just be sociable and friendly is amazing and this is so apparent within this group.
The knitting needles are out there, just come and join us for some fun.
""The knitting needles and wool are there. Come and join us for two hours of fun, a cup of tea and a knatter."
