St Thomas Moorside Oldham Handbell Group

Your story

Handbell group available for demonstrations and performances within the Oldham area.

Group introduction

In recent years we have reformed a handbell group which meets on Monday
mornings. We use 45 of the handbells on a regular basis and assist in playing at the Church’s Carol and Easter services and the Christmas Fair. Gail Randall is the leader.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

There are about 70 handbells
which date back to the 1870’s when the Church was consecrated.
Historically the Church had a fine handbell team which were founder members of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain. he handbells are in need of restoration after all these
years. We are planning to have them refurbished in July/August 2018 at a cost of £3000 so that they will be able to be used for many years to come.
