Earby Cricket Club

Earby, Lancashire

Your story

Cricket for ALL in our Community.

Group introduction

Earby Cricket Club is situated on the border of Lancashire and Yorkshire - and the home club of Lancashire captain, Glen Chapple. In 2011 he led the county to their first Championship win since 1950, and the following year was named one of Wisden's five Players of the Year.

The club is a member of the Houldsworth Ribblesdale League with junior teams playing at Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 level in the Upper Airedale Junior League.

We also host cricket for Pendle District, West Craven High School and local junior schools.

The club prides itself on developing our own junior cricketers and has ECB Clubmark status which recognises the quality of our provision for young players - we are also a Lancashire Cricket Board Focus Club.

We are run by a committee of our members and are striving to become even more of a true community club.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

The funds would be used to, help refurbish elements of our changing areas that need to be developed to ensure we can continue to attract ‘new’ members especially ‘new’ junior members. We are in the process of becoming a ECB All Stars Club we aim to use this national scheme to attract players both boys and girls from the ages of 5 to 8 years old. We need this investment that we would match by our own fundraising to make sure the clubs facilities are appropriate to the younger children. Being able to reach this new age group will still further embed our whole community approach.

"We are greatful and excited by the kind support of the Skipton Building Society, this support has allowed us to develop our changing facilities, specifically to help us engage and attact more juniors and family’s to our wonderful Club - Lee Parkinson Club Secretary"
