A Family orientated Men's & Ladies Hockey club for all ages & abilities

Group introduction

We are a mixed Men's & Ladies Field Hockey club (Men's established 1891 & Ladies 1917) who welcome players of all abilities whether people have played hockey before or not. We provide regular coaching sessions for our members who range from 5 year old up to 74 & run regular junior hockey schools during the kids holidays. We also attend schools throughout the area coaching hockey or delivering taster sessions. Our club is run totally by our amazing volunteers, whom efforts were rewarded this year when we were named in the top 8 hockey clubs out of over 800 clubs in the country due to their huge efforts over the last few years. Our over 40's mens team have also reached the final of the England Hockey National Cup which is a great achievement for a North East club

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

Due to the big influx of juniors in the club we require more safety equipment for them eg keeper kits, face masks etc to meet England hockeys regulations & Clubmark. We also require new sticks for the juniors that maybe not in a financial position to buy a stick or equipment to play the sport. We have concentrated on local schools to try engage juniors in sports & those that are in areas that struggle financially. At present approx 50 juniors will benefit from this funding but with running summer schools during the school holiday we expect a lot more juniors attending the club on a regular basis. When looked after the equipment will last for years
