Your story

The Guide family is dedicated to creating a better world for girls and young women. The Skipton Methodist Guide family is proud to create a safe environment dedicated to having a positive impact and helping others.

Group introduction

Guiding empowers nearly half a million girls to be the best they can be and prepares them to face the challenges of growing up. We’ve been doing that through adventure, friendship and fun for over 100 years.

Skipton Methodist Guide family is run by a team of dedicated volunteers with one supporting all three groups of Rainbows, Brownines and Guides. We have over 75 years volunteering experience between us and create a safe learning environment for over 60 girls at any one time. We run three groups; Rainbows (aged 5-7 years), Brownies (aged 7 - 10 years) and Guides (aged over 10 years), as well as supporting our older girls to remain involved in the guide movement through the young leaders programme.

We also support the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme by providing volunteering opportunities for young leaders to support the different group. Through support all our girls grow in confidence and go on to become valued members of our community.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

The funding would allow us to buy media equipment, including a bluetooth photocopier and laminator, that will support different activities across all three groups. It would also mean we are able to replace various sports equipment that we regularly use, both in group and on our regular camping/pack holidays.

"Skipton Methodist Guide family aims to create a safe environment for our girls - helping them to grow and develop. The funding will mean we are able to enhance the work we do with the girls."
