We lead young people aged 6 to 8 years in scouting activities. These range from camping to camp craft, health & fitness, first aid and some fantastic life skills.
As the youngest of the Scout family we prepare our young people for the next stages in their life giving them vital life skills and confidence in a fun and friendly way. It relies on volunteers to make sure that the activities are suitable supervised in order that the children can enjoy them. Many of our helpers are parents themselves who give up their time to make sure that the young people can have a go.
I have been involved in Scouting for most of my adult life and have been a Beaver leader for the last 10 years. Both my children have begun their journey through scouts as beavers and now they are Explorers and enjoying running their own activities, and even some for the younger Scouts.
I love to see the smiles on the Beavers faces as they face their challenge of climbing the tower or kayaking for the first time.
How would this funding have an impact on your community?
The funds would allow more joint activities for our 6 beaver colony's in Witney. We would look to buy equipment including trolleys to help move camping equipment to the campsite and invest in some new tents ready for our next big adventure
"Beavers is all about Fun and Friends and having some extra equipment would allow these young people to gain in confidence and experiences.
