Auntie Val's Kitchens Community Interest Company

Your story

We give training and work experience to people with disabilities.

Group introduction

I have been active since the very beginning, I was a carer for young people with disabilities ,so have seen the difficulties they face. After finishing school or college, they are very often isolated at home while other family members go to work. I realised that what was needed was a real work environment where they could gain experience and gain confidence ,social skills and gain a feeling of worth.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

We are planning on moving to bigger premises this year and we want to open a Community Café, so not only the staff members and their family but also the local community would benefit .The number that this will benefit is unknown, the number of disabled people is rising all the time.
