Sandwich Concert Band

Your story

A concert band and training band catering for musicians of all ages and abilities.

Group introduction

The Sandwich Concert Band was formed in 2011 by members of the former Pfizer Wind Orchestra which disbanded following the closure of the Pfizer facility at Sandwich. The band is a community organisation run by a committee of members from the band on a voluntary basis. The band consists of two bands - a main band and a training band - and as such caters for musicians of all abilities. The band meet weekly to rehearse and provides an outlet for people of all ages to come together and make music. The band performs 4 to 5 concerts per year in the local area and strive to provide quality entertainment for our audiences. We also sometimes perform for charity events and raise money for local charitable causes.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

This funding would enable the band to expand its library of music. This would give the players an opportunity to learn new pieces of music and develop their skills as well as provide audiences with new and exiting concerts. The music could be used by future band members in the years to come. The funding would also enable us to keep members subscriptions at their current levels as we strive not to exclude anyone from the band.

""The purchase of new music is important if we are to challenge ourselves and develop the bands repertoire and therefore provide audiences with exciting concerts." Kate Robinson, chairman"
