Football Fun for All in the Highlands.

Group introduction

STRATHSPEY fc juniors, is a community club run by volunteer parents and coaches to provide football fun training and community matches for girls and boys aged 9 to 12 years.

Following the wind up of Strathspey Thistle Youth Development Squad earlier this year, a group of committed parents and coaches from the under 13 section emerged to keep coomunity football alive and kicking for under 13's.

The original youth development club wound up as there were insufficient volunteers to run under 13, under 15 and under 17 squads. As the under 13's are the largest group parents didn't feel it was right that 50 under 13s lost local football due to the lack of commitment from other age groups.

STrathspey Fc under 13s is the result!

We provide coaching sessions on a wednesday evening for boys and girls . We promote the ethos of healthy, respectful team play for all abilities through football.

We plan to participate in the Moray league next season.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

Strathspey fc under 13s is starting from scratch. We need strips and equipment and are buisily fund raising for next season to fund our pitch training bookings, transport to matches, winter trsining sessions on the astro turf pitch and club tracksuits.

In total we are aiming to raise £3000 to fund the total programme for next season.

Any grants we receive and fund raising we do will reduce the cost to the children who participate and the Skipton Donation would make a Huge Difference to what we can provide for the children and ease the burden of fund raising in a small community where there are fewer businesses to ask (and they get asked all the time)!

"Skipton's Community Fund grant has helped kick start our new local under 13 community football programme - everyone is thrilled. TANIA ALLIOD, co-ordinator.

Group website (not set up yet, as this is a youth programme we communicate using a closed fb page and local community channels like schools and local sports centre)"
