Salts Tennis Club

Your story

Affordable tennis for all at Salts tennis club.

Group introduction

Salts Tennis is a community based, inclusive club, providing access to healthy sporting and social activity. With the help of various sponsors we offer subsidised junior coaching and free tennis camps to those who cannot afford them. We also work with children with disabilities and older adults.

Club Chairman Jim Dyer is assisted by a management committee of nine volunteers, women and men and also Richard Senior our club coach. Salts Tennis Club is nearly 100 years old and has over 150 active members.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

We were devastated by the Christmas floods, which caused over £20,000 damage. We have spent the last three months getting multiple repairs completed to make the courts playable. This was funded in part by various flood relief grants and insurance.

Unfortunately our automatic practice ball machine was destroyed and without financial help we will be unable to replace it. This is a key part of the attractiveness of our offering to children - they are fascinated to be able to play against a droid!

The replacement will cost £820 and we have already raised £320 from member donations. Your £500 grant will enable us to get a replacement and continue attracting junior members.
