LONGWOOD AMATEUR OPERATIC SOCIETY

Huddersfield

Your story

We are a friendly musical society that offers everyone the opportunity to perform fantastic musicals, at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield.

Group introduction

We are a small, friendly musical society that performs annually in the Lawrence Batley Theatre each October. We have been active since 1924 and hope to continue for many years to come. The society is run by a committee, consisting of three officials and up to ten committee members. We actively encourage young members to join us - thus ensuring the future of musical theatre. We have a safeguarding policy in place to ensure the safety of our younger members. We hold open and fair auditions each year for the main roles in the shows.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

Each year, we are faced with ever increasing costs. We try to keep our ticket prices to a level that is affordable to all. If we were to be awarded funding, it would go a long way to assisting with the ever increasing costs. We would put the funds towards our costume bill. We have to hire our costumes from a costumier.

"Welcome to Longwood AOS - the family friendly musical society in Huddersfield.
