Knottingley Judo Club

Your story

A small martial arts club established in 1976, we have bred champions over the years.

Very much a family orientated sport, we have around 15 kids, some have parents that do judo too. We have a small amount of adults attending regularly.

Group introduction

Myself, Ian Sideway, am the only coach at level two, we also have Dan who is a black belt, and our judo referee. I am the chairman of the club. We don't have any other coaches, but we need funding to pay for their training. We have been active since 1976, I have run the club since 2012, as the other coaches have retired. We help kids to learn judo, so that they can have a better quality of life, meeting new lifetime friends and making them into confident young people.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

A small martial arts club struggling with providing advertising for the club to grow. More so we struggle to educate future coaches and supply judo suits to young kids that want to start judo, but parents can't afford to buy them kits.

We need new mats for the club.
