Berry Brow AFC

Berry Brow, Huddersfield

Your story

We are an amateur football club, providing football for people aged between 16 and 60.

Group introduction

The club is run by a hardworking group of 10 volunteers, who devote many hours to provide football games and training for up to 60 people a week. Our focus on the past four years has been to coach youngsters from the age of 15 upwards, and to introduce them to open-age football as opposed to junior games. We rent a pitch from the local authority, but do all the maintenance on it to provide the best facilities we can.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

Our big project at the moment is to provide changing accommodation at the pitch. We have always rented changing rooms in the past, but have now obtained a large cabin which we intend to fit out as simple but clean changing rooms, with showers and toilets. It will provide facilities that have never been available on Berry Brow recreation ground, and will be available to all players and spectators. We have also informed the local community group who organise Berry Brow Carnival, that we will make the facilities available to them free of charge. Any money would go towards the provision of equipment such as showers and a toilet for the cabin.

""Berry Brow is a very well-regarded and well-run football club, with a proud tradition in Huddersfield dating back more than 50 years. This new changing room is a long-overdue boost to the club and the whole Brow community."
