Community Group offering Basketball

Group introduction

D & D offers youngsters aged between 6 and 18 the chance to play basketball - there is also a senior section. It is run by qualified coaches, these are either people who started playing with the club as youngsters and want to give something back to the sport and parents who have become involved through their children. The club was originally set up in 1989 and has evolved from a Senior club to a thriving Junior club with a progression through to the Senior Club. We give all youngsters, whatever their ability the chance to play the sport and by doing so the opportunity to keep fit and healthy and to make new friends.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

The money would be spent on buying new equipment for the club. The aim of the club is to keep subscription costs as low as possible so that the club can remain all inclusive and not exclude people because of costs. There is always the need to buy and improve equipment in order to be able to provide the best experience possible so that youngsters want to remain within the club from when they start right through to our under 18 age group and then hopefully to progress to Seniors - providing an experience which will give them a lifelong interest in the sport.

"This funding would enable the club to buy essential equipment to help deliver training which makes a huge difference to the enjoyment the youngsters get from the basketball sessions."
