Kent Exiles American Football Club

Your story

All inclusive American Football Club. We encourage players from all walks of life to join and experience the thrill of hard work and commitment to their team, paying off with amazing results.

Group introduction

The club was formed in 1990 by 25 players and one coach. The club now has five different playing levels from age 7 to adult. All coaches, organising committee and helpers are volunteers. In 2015 the adult, youth and junior teams were all divisional champions, one of the coaches was coach of the year and the club was voted as the best gameday experience. This has been achieved by remarkable commitment from all. Training is taken very seriously which the players really embrace. The club does not have its own grounds: practice sites and gameday pitches have to be borrowed/rented. I am a parent of a junior player and I have volunteered to try and raise much needed funds.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

Funding from you would be used to cover the costs of participation for juniors from deprived backgrounds - we have members from all backgrounds but the game attracts many youngsters who have little else in life. American football gives them and all the members purpose, achievable goals, self esteem, a reason to be fit and healthy and a sense of belonging and, hopefully, success. Funds would also help the club to provide much needed training equipment and kit for the junior team (they currently share the adults shirts!). All 150 members would benefit from funds and the equipment would help for many years to train all members.

"American Football has given my teenaged son much needed focus and self esteem, it has transformed his attitude to life.
Annabel Elliott - Volunteer/Parent"
