Sedbergh in Bloom Volunteers Group

Your story

Group introduction

We have been operating as Sedbergh in Bloom for about 5 years as a separate group from "Cumbria in Bloom" because we don't have the man power to compete at completion level.

We are currently 7 volunteers who are all senior citizens who like to keep the town looking attractive and pretty.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

All funds received are very welcome and would go towards re-desisgn, replanting and general maintainance of the communal flower beds and planters which currently amounts to about 12 formal beds, 6 troughs and planters and one informal area at the entrance to the town from the Kendal road.

Seasonal bedding plants , compost and fertiliser are on going requirements as well as perennial plant renewal.

The benefit would be beautiful scented flower beds planted to attract birds, bees and insects and give pleasure to all the visitors to our part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park as well as to the local residents.

"The gardens are beautifully kept and are a tonic that lifts the spirits.

Mrs Sheila Blackwell, local resident"
