Ribble Valley Raiders Cricket Club

Your story

Community cricket at its best.

Group introduction

We are a not for profit community cricket club for children aged 4-16 that is run by volunteers with a passion for the game. All children who attend the weekly outdoor sessions do so at no cost to them. We fundraise by selling cakes on training nights and other small scale children's events to fund our costs for venue hire / insurance and equipment.
Children come from across the Ribble valley and even further to attend our fun filled, differentiated sessions. This year we have entered an U9 team and an U11 team in the Ribblesdale Youth Cricket league. We have 2 girls in our U11 team and 4 girls in our U9 team - as well as one playing cricket for Lancashire U11s. A massive amount of progress in the space of 12 months for most children.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

We would like to purchase a junior bowling machine which would help us to further improve the batting skills of the children as well as making the training sessions more dynamic. This can also be used for fielding drills as it is portable and is battery powered.
During the winter months we could continue using it at our junior indoor sessions - thus maximising its use all year round. This would benefit a minimum of 40 children.

"We would be very grateful for the support from Skipton Building Society Grassroots Giving Fund as it would enable us to obtain a very beneficial piece of coaching equipment. This would allow us to further improve the batting and fielding skill levels of all the children who are exposed to it. We are a progressive junior only club and wish to provide local children with the most effective coaching tools thereby allowing them to reach their full potential. This donation will allow that to happen.
