Maryport Athletic Junior Football Club

Your story

Providing support for children to learn football with no pressure and to benefit them in the future. Anyone should be allowed to play football.

Group introduction

Maryport Athletic are a Junior football club that was established in 2014 after I was involved in another football club and I wanted to give young players the opportunities to learn Football and enjoy it not worry about results. We started with an U12s which this will be U14s for the 2016 season and in addition we now have an U7s and we are coaching younger age groups. myself (Karl Skillen) runs the club along with several other volunteers, we help the local community to be able to give them more options, enjoyment, interaction with other children and also health benefits, We enjoy teaching the children skills of football and socialising with each other in a safe and enjoyable environment, and as the children grow older they will learn to compete in their own time and we will try and help them do this with respect and sportsmanship.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

New equipment is need as different age groups need new/other equipment for example now that our top age groups are moving to u14s we need new quality size 5 footballs and full size goals. our U7s need also need new size 3 footballs - also their costs for training venues, kits, training equipment , goals these are just some of the cost of trying to run the club.

"My coach wants us to try and play football and give our best but most of all enjoy it!
