East Cheshire Sub Aqua Club

Your story

We are a community-based sports club, providing training and scuba experiences for locals and other community groups and we support the Scouts, Girl Guides and Sea Scouts, among others.

Group introduction

Our club has been established in the local community for over 50 years and members enjoy scuba diving around the UK. We are also active in marine conservation and regularly fundraise for the RNLI and other bodies. We are run entirely by volunteers, including our diving instructors. We actively engage with local groups and provide lifesaver training for our members and also the local community at our weekly pool sessions which regularly include scouts, girl guides and sea scouts. We also have an active (and award winning) snorkeling group that provides an introduction to safe enjoyment of the water for children 6 years of age and upwards.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

This funding would enable us to extend our community work and allow us to purchase additional equipment in smaller sizes to enable us to deliver more scuba experiences for juniors. We are also planning to send some of our scuba instructors on a course this year to deliver scuba training for people with disabilities, with this funding we would be able to extend this training to an additional instructor.

"The Club and its active volunteers make a significant contribution to the community"
