Ealing

Your story

A Community Interest Company that has Ealing junior hockey players at its heart.

Group introduction

With the London 2012 Olympic flame still burning in 2013 we formed Ealing Hockey Club as junior only hockey club. That number has grown to nearly 260. The age range is from 5 to 16. The numbers are made up as 200 girls and 60 from 56 different School from within the local and neighboring Boroughs. 41% of the membership comes from State Sector Schools.
The club has small army of volunteers that ensures all junior get to matches and enjoy a fun and engaging environment. This leave the founder (Chairman) to focus on recruiting and managing 4 professional coaches to prepare the juniors to compete in the Home Counties leagues. In the three short years 4 of our juniors have been selected to join the junior regional performance centre.
With the continued growth in numbers with the retention of the junior Ealing Hockey will field a Ladies side with our 16 and 17 year old year old girls who wish to compete at a higher level.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

Many of the volunteers want to develop their skills, whether that is as assistant coaches, match officials, or develop their general administrative and volunteering skills.
By developing their personal skills and giving back to them we will be able to expand the club further and share the work load.
We further want to run Young Leaders workshops to help nurture the older juniors. We so far have 8 junior Young Leaders who help the Lead Coaches in mentoring the youngest section of the hockey club. We wish to make this a formal function and award those junior the England Hockey Young Leader Certificate.

"Neighboring clubs and officials have said the club is very warm and welcoming. The older juniors interact and support the younger members."
