Group introduction

We are a group of volunteers carrying on a village tradition that spans 62 years. We provide a free of charge party, 3 course meal with entertainment for parishioners over the age of 66 or disabled and their partners. It's an opportunity for the older residents of the parish to socialise and have an afternoon/evening out. We provide transport where necessary. We take meals and fruit baskets to those too ill to attend or in hospital. Last year we catered hot meals for around 130 people. Delivery around 20 meals to those at home and made 8 hospital/nursing home visits.

How would this funding have an impact on your community?

It's really important to us as a committee to keep this event free of charge as this is part of the history. Some of our guests genuinely could not afford to come and its the highlight of their year. We write to over 50 companies asking for donations as well as holding raffles, coffee mornings and other fund raising events to bring the money in. We are extremely aware of the rising costs so ensure we always get the best possible deals and carefully budget.
